Re CIDA Abandons Kairos, January News

It saddens me that all the work that went into community and consensus building in many areas — Kelowna Accord, rights of the indigenous peoples, and now Kairos — can all be dismissed not by discussion, conversation and debate by citizens and our elected representatives but simply by a few people at the Prime Minister’s Office. It saddens me that our government is dividing our nation into “us” and “them.” What is very troubling to me is that so many citizens either do not realize how destructive this approach is, or they just don’t care. We are losing the value of respect, compassion and caring. Since not all Presbyterians subscribe to the Record, is there a chance that an article such as this could be sent to all congregations to include with the bulletin on Sunday? Too many people are unaware. Let’s mobilize people and get them to encourage their elected MPs, regardless of party affiliation, to speak out against the continual silencing of all those voices that have something to contribute and that need to be heard.

Is the Presbyterian Church to be become a mouth piece for the Liberal Party? This seems to be the intend of Tony Boonstra.

It is so nice to see people speak out about what they are passionate about I’m glad there are people like Tony Boonstra who have an opinion and are not afraid to voice it …We as Canadian are losing credibility with a with countries who relied upon us for aid and now after 35 years is abruptly cut off. As a woman and mother I am concerned at how many women’s projects these cuts affect. Columbia for instance the Magdelena Medio one of the worst area’s for human rights violations there are 22 women’s centers affected, centers where women receive medical treatment counseling and human rights training empowerment training to not become victims of violence these affect programs in the Congo, Serra Leone to name a few , So as Tony Boonstra said “Lets Mobilize” and do something about this from our corner of the world, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi
